In addition to protecting nationally significant rivers,
American Rivers' programs focus on dam removal and reform
(including a campaign to remove four federal dams on the
lower Snake River); river channel engineering (including
campaigns to reform Army Corps of Engineers and protect floodplains); allocation of water resources; and threats to
watersheds (including wild rivers, those affected by
agricultural practices, and community riverfronts).

KS Wild
KS Wild defends the outstanding biological diversity of

Northwest Environmental
Defense Center
The Northwest Environmental Defense Center ("NEDC") was
established by a group of professors, law students and
attorney alumni at Lewis and Clark Law School in 1969. NEDC
is an independent, non-profit organization working to
protect the environment and natural resources of the Pacific
Northwest. We provide legal support to individuals and
grassroots organizations with environmental concerns, and
engage in litigation independently or in conjunction with
other environmental groups. NEDC also provides valuable
hands-on experience for students seeking to enhance their
education in environmental law.

Watch Mile By Mile
is a program of the OSCC. CoastWatchers,
now more than
890 strong, together keep watch over Oregon’s entire
362-mile coast. Any number of people can adopt a mile, and
more watchers are always needed. A
Coast Watcher monitors everything from immediate
threats, such as oil on the beach or violations of
habitat protection areas, to long-range land use or
park management issues affecting the shoreline.
