Oregon Wild & Scenic Rivers Program

Winter rains mud the Wild Rogue...

Oregon has been in the forefront of river conservation nationally with 57 rivers and tributaries designated as either federal or state scenic waterways.  Yet all of these rivers still face ongoing threats to their beauty and natural integrity.  FLOW monitors and advocates for the protection and restoration of Oregon's Wild and Scenic Rivers. FLOW also addresses ongoing problems with these waters, such as the threats posed by dams, cattle grazing, logging, gravel mining, dredging, roads, water withdrawals, herbicide spraying, motorized use, and industrial pollution.

FLOW and Rogue Group Sierra Club Appeal the Wild and Scenic Rogue River Hellgate Recreation Area Management Plan

Friends of Living Oregon Waters (FLOW) and the Rogue Group Sierra Club (RGSC) assert that the Bureau of Land Management has illegally failed to restrict motorized tourboat use to the levels allowed by the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. High levels of motorized tourboat noise and wakes disrupt fish and wildlife, degrade water quality, and create conflicts between motorized and non-motorized recreation.
